Today’s Totally Random Lines

And, trust me, I was coming to you. You look very ill.

Mistress Page

The Merry Wives of Windsor        Act II Scene i, Line 34

This is Mistress Page’s reply to Mistress Ford (these being the two titular Merry Wives). M. Ford has just shown up at M. Page’s house, and M. Page is telling her that she had been about to head to her house. The you look very ill part is a bit of a red herring, because there’s nothing wrong with M. Ford, and her health is not at issue here.

So, we’re starting the new year off with The Merry Wives. How about that. It’s not one of Will’s more famous plays, nor one of his more highly praised ones. It’s a farce with a bit of slapstick; much like many of his comedies. And I guess it’s okay if that’s what you’re looking for.

I think I’ll take a pass on any more about today’s line (since I don’t have anything) and instead move directly to a Mojo pic.

Happy New Year y'all!

Today’s Totally Random Lines

Come here about me, you my Myrmidons;

Mark what I say. Attend me where I wheel;

Strike not a stroke, but keep yourselves in breath:

And when I have the bloody Hector found,

Empale him with your weapons round about;

In fellest manner execute your arms.

Follow me, sirs, and my proceedings eye:-

It is decreed Hector the great must die.  [Exeunt]

Achilles

Troilus and Cressida            Act V Scene iii, Line 1

Achilles tells all his men to follow him to go kill Hector. He does it with a bit of emphasis, and then they all traipse off.

By the way, the Myrmidons are a tribe, a bunch of guys who follow Achilles. They’re not male mermaids, just in case you were wondering. Also, by the way, a myrmidon in modern English can mean a loyal follower: a subordinate who executes orders unquestioningly or unscrupulously. I didn’t know that before, and its according to MW online. Interesting.

This is the part where I make a political comment. Well, I did, but then I deleted it. You’re welcome.

 This guy is such a Wienie. When I got to the part about empaling (impaling) Hector, and executing with fellest manner he just buried his head and wouldn't look up.Talk about sensitive!
